Sport Fishing in the coast

Basically, there are three types of fishing:  from the beach, rock and boat.

From the beach, i.e., “surf-casting” from a sandy beach calls for bait like “lombriz,” “Americano”, “titas” and “llobarrero”.  The catch will likely be “mabra,” “dorada” or lubina”.  The beach of San Pedro Pescador, between Roses and l’Escala is a good beach for this type of fishing, mainly at night.

In Llançà, for example, to fish from the rocks is easy, any spot near the water will do. The fish that abound near the rocky shore is the “Sardo”, although there is also a fair number of “dorada,” “denton,” and  “escorpora,” etc.  Bait that works in these waters includes crab, mussel, sardine, “rosca,“ “americano,” etc.  It is recommended that you allow the line to reach the bottom.

Another type of fishing is the so-called “English fishing,” using bait like “Asticot.”

Options for fishing from a boat are more numerous.  For example, it depends if you want to practice “curry” or another type of fishing.   “Rapalas, pens, “cucharillas,” are a few of the bait alternatives.
