Tourism
has a long tradition in Roses. The name of the town is owed to the "ancient
Greeks ". They came across the Mediterranean see in their ships, liked
the place and called it Rhode.

Still in the fifties a fishing village, Roses experienced the tourism boom of the following years the strongest, compared to all other resorts of the northern Costa Brava. |

The residential area Santa Margarida can be attained from Roses by foot over the beach promenade. It is particularly popular by boat owners because of its numerous channels with moorings at the houses. |

Who looks for peace, must literally search for it, but will find it nearby in the small bays towards Cap Creus, on trips through the countryside or visiting the small villages close to Roses. Who looks for more vacation excitement, is also well provided. The municipality and many private enterprises organize numerous fiestas, Jazz festivals, classical music and folkloristic events. | Numerous restaurants compete for the tourists. Discotheques, small bars and Bodegas provide for an exciting night life. The municipality has very strict noise regulations though, so disturbances are not noticeable especially when one does not reside directly in the center of the town. | ![]() |

or apartments. These are offered through local agencies or rented
directly by the owner. You should make sure what type of accommodation
is required and then carefully choose the area. The shopping possibilities
are almost unlimited, from the daily need to souvenirs or clothes everything
