The Empúries Marathon, which this year reaches its thirteenth edition, will donate a charitable euro from each participant to the Red Cross.
As in previous years on 3rd May three tests coincide: the marathon, the half marathon and the 10 km run. As happened last year there will be a race for runners who are children aged 7 – 14 years old. That is scheduled for the afternoon of the previous day.
As for the rest of the races, it will follow the previous years model. The same route, intended to be urban and attractive for the runners, maximizing L’Escala’s coastline, from the coast of Empúries until the port.
The enrollment rate is similar at this point to last year, when 1,706 participants took part in all events in L’Escala.
Empúries Marathon is scheduled for Sunday 3rd May, and as is the tradition, both the departure and the ending will take place in the Catalonia-Empúries Archaeology Museum. In fact, before taking the official start, all runners pass through the middle of the ancient Empúries Greek city.
On Saturday, in addition to the Kids Run, a Runner’s Fair will also takes place to coincide with the collection of numbers and the organization of giving gifts to the participants.
Marathon d’Empúries is organized by the Municipal Sports of L’Escala and has the support of the Catalan Federation of Athletics.
