Tourists expect surprises, but locals can be surprised, too. The Empordà, time and again amazes even the most knowledgeable local with a new “find.” Sometimes the “find” is the remnants of an ancient culture or a special landscape or a special restaurant that strikes your fancy. The Empordà abounds in ancient buildings such as cloisters and they seem to be in nice surroundings . . . settled among beguiling beautiful landscapes and particularly fertile land.

Restaurant Corral and cloister Sant Quirze de Colera
The cloister Sant Quirze de Colera is always a special place of excursions. The village of Llançà annually celebrates a local Fiesta that regularly involves the majority of the population. Hikers and cyclists find their way here and discover that such a combination of landscape (Albera Mountain Nature Park), history, and lo and behold a restaurant, too, that is very extraordinary even for the Empordà:

The restaurant Corral de Sant Quirze joins harmoniously with the landscape, as if it were always here, so to speak, as a part of the cloister [which is currently undergoing a renovation.] The restaurant is open all year, from 9 to 17 o'clock, every day except Wednesday. For large groups ( + 20 persons) the Corral can be also made available in the evening, but only by prior reservation.
The kitchen of the restaurant is simple and indigenous, and of the first quality. The Carte is dominated by meat dishes from local sources. Even the potatoes for "chips" are peeled and cut by hand.

There are also specialties of the house that can be arranged by advance order (2-3 days); for example snails, rice casserole or a fish dish such as skate with potatoes.
For the smaller meal there is also a wide selection, from the popular roast-bread with tomato to various sausages. And, guests only eager to quench their thirst are also welcome. Finally, it should be noted that the prices are at the lower end of the scale.

Administratively, Sant Quirze appertains to the small village of Rabós d’Empordà; From Rabós a small road leads to the cloister and to the restaurant.
Yohana and Lluis
This passage is also recommended for hiking or biking, as well as by car. Always expect the "caminante" a very varied landscape. In the colder seasons cows graze here and everything is green; in the hot summer the landscape takes on the brownish tones.
Rabós d'Empordà

There is also a more comfortable way from Vilamaniscle (past Garriguella) to Sant Quirze, starting from the entry to the village. Particularly if one is coming from the coast (from Roses about 12 km, or from Llançà 10 km) this is a shorter routing than by way of Rabós . . . shorter and on a better road.
